About the Course

The Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course is designed to equip participants with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to provide effective first aid in workplace emergencies. This one-day course focuses on practical, hands-on training to ensure learners can respond quickly and appropriately to a range of injuries and medical situations.

Course Content

  1. Introduction to First Aid

    • The role and responsibilities of a first aider.
    • Legal considerations and workplace first aid requirements.
  2. Assessing a Situation

    • Conducting a primary survey (DR ABC).
    • Ensuring the safety of the scene and others.
  3. Basic Life Support

    • Performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
    • Using an automated external defibrillator (AED).
  4. Managing Unresponsive Casualties

    • Recovery position.
    • Handling situations like agonal breathing.
  5. Common Workplace Injuries

    • Responding to severe bleeding, burns, and scalds.
    • Managing choking incidents.
    • Recognizing and treating shock.
  6. Medical Conditions

    • Recognizing and responding to heart attacks, strokes, seizures, asthma, and diabetic emergencies.
    • Managing allergic reactions (anaphylaxis).
  7. Practical Scenarios

    • Simulated workplace emergencies for hands-on practice.
    • Application of bandages, dressings, and other first aid techniques.
