About the Course

The Level 3 Paediatric First Aid (PFA) course is tailored for those who work with infants and children. This two-day course meets the requirements set by the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and provides participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to handle a range of emergencies involving children and babies.

    • Conducting a primary survey using DR ABC.
    • Managing the safety of the scene and others involved.
  3. Basic Life Support (BLS)

    • Managing choking in babies, children, and adults.
  4. Unresponsive Casualties

    • Placing an infant or child in the recovery position.
    • Managing unresponsiveness and agonal breathing.
  5. Wounds, Bleeding, and Shock

    • Treating minor wounds, cuts, and grazes.
    • Managing severe bleeding with dressings and bandages.
    • Recognizing and treating shock (including hypovolemic and anaphylactic shock).
  6. Injuries and Accidents

    • Treating burns, scalds, and head injuries.
    • First aid for fractures, sprains, and dislocations.
    • Managing eye, nose, and ear injuries.
  7. Specific Paediatric Conditions

    • Recognizing and responding to seizures.
    • Managing febrile convulsions in children.
    • Responding to asthma attacks and breathing difficulties.
    • Treating severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) and using adrenaline auto-injectors.
    • Recognizing and treating symptoms of meningitis.
  8. Medical Emergencies

    • Managing diabetic emergencies (hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia).
    • Recognizing poisoning and ingestion of harmful substances.
    • Dealing with childhood illnesses (e.g., croup, chickenpox, and measles).
    • Responding to hypothermia and hyperthermia.

    • Role-playing realistic scenarios involving infants and children.
    • Application of bandages, slings, and other first aid equipment.
